Mary Simpson was born and educated in Auckland, New Zealand She studied art in Auckland and was taught by Ida Ease, one of Aucklands foremost tutors, for many years and continued art classes in Sydney. Over the years she has developed a style of contemporary realism.
Most of her painting are commissioned and hold pride of place in private collections in America, United Kingdom, The Netherlands, Japan, Hong Kong, New Zealand and Australia. Mary exhibits in Galleries in Sydney, London and New Zealand.
Mary is also known for her landscapes with scenes around Mosman and sketches made while traveling overseas featuring strongly in her paintings as well as the flowers from her garden, and she captures the beauty and the mood of the moment with romanticism and freshness of colour.
